Vote Out Covid: Privacy Policy
This document outlines what personally identifying information (PII) we collect and what we do with it. Vote Out Covid are acting as a data controller, with Democracy Club as a data processor.
The Purpose of this website is to facilitate sending invitations from Users to Candidates to sign our pledge, and to inform Users of Candidate responses.
Collection
Users
When you enter data on our site, you are consenting to us using it for the Purpose of the site. Futhermore if you tick the "please keep me informed" checkbox you are consenting to us contacting you on related matters.
We collect your postcode when you enter it into our website, and use it to look up your electoral areas. We store a cache of this lookup, but do not link it with your email address.
We collect your email address when you enter it into our website, and use it to inform you when your candidates respond to our pledge. We link this to your electoral areas, but not your postcode.
Candidates
We believe we have a legitimate interest in processing your email address, which we obtain through Democracy Club.
Validation
We have a duty to make sure the data we collect is accurate. We do this by asking Users to validate their email address with a clickable link.
Deletion
Within one month of the relevant Election, we will delete all email addresses from users and candidates from our database, unless they have opted in to keeping informed. In that latter case, we will keep email addresses for up to 12 months.
