Vote Out Covid

The world has moved on from the Covid-19 pandemic. But it hasn't moved on from us. We all know that people are still getting sick, and some of those people aren't getting better. In the UK, millions of people are suffering from Long Covid, leaving them unable to work or enjoy their lives. Covid, along with other respiratory viruses, is still circulating in the population, all year round, every year.

It doesn't have to be like this. Simple public health interventions, tried and tested, can be introduced at low cost. We exist to lobby political candidates to take action to protect us all.

We're a non-partisan, grassroots organisation. For the English local elections on 1st May 2025, we're asking candidates to sign up to our three pledges:

  1. Promote air filter boxes in school classrooms, in keeping with the duty to improve children's wellbeing under the Childcare Act 2006
  2. Consider air quality as a factor in licensing decisions for bars and restaurants, under the "Public Safety" licensing objective
  3. Demand transparency on air quality mitigations in all council offices, along with statistics for staff sickness rates with respiratory illnesses, to protect council workers

Councils have a legal duty to help protect people from the dangers of communicable diseases such as Covid. Help us make sure they fulfil that duty!
